The annual conference of the Haredi newspaper Yated Neeman (attended by senior Haredi leaders and journalists, with special guests such as the President of Israel and the Chairman of the Israel Bank) was a festive event. But who was missing? Women. Not that that stopped the speakers from speaking about how the Haredi community has progressed and how there is an increase in the number of women that are working in different sectors of the market. The few women who attended were forced to sit in the VIP room, where they could only see the speakers on TV monitors.
Watch what happens when Raya Mery, Nivcharot activist walked into the hall and asked why there were no women in the audience, and why women are not represented in Haredi parties. She was promptly told that this is an event for men only and escorted out.
